GIFFT project increases awareness within the Baltics

On 17th May 2024, the GIFFT coordinator LEI was honoured to meet Tommy Biene, a partner of the Estonian start-up New Standard Oil. The company operates a biomass thermal refining technology that uses superheated steam to produce torrefied biogenic feedstock. The fruitful discussion focused on the synergies between the different projects and the possibility of further cooperation related to GIFFT's activities.
One of GIFFT's pillars is using torrefied biogenic waste to produce clean synthesis gas through a plasma-intensified gasification process developed by TUM. Plasma-intensified gasification increases the flexibility of the whole system, positively influences the syngas composition, and increases gasification efficiency.
